Happy Valentine’s Day
Garry Marshall’s Valentine’s Day is a 2010 romantic comedy about several people and their valentine during the day lovers worldwide celebrate.
Set in and around Beverly Hills, the love story includes a stellar cast of Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifa, Bradley Cooper, Patrick Dampsey, Jennifer Garner, and Julia Roberts.
Reed Bennet (Kutcher) is florist whose business thrives during Valentine’s Day every year. But while love is in the air, not everyone can smell the roses.
In the film, we get a brief but important lesson in the history of the day from Julia Fitzpatrick (Garner), Reed’s best friend, who is a school teacher.
The soundtrack to this film is absolutely perfect. The selection of songs bring the emotion of each scene to life and the starting track “Say Hey (I Love You)” by Michael Franti & Spearhead just sets you in the pace and mood for love.
The film also features “Today Was a Fairytale” by Taylor Swift, who plays Felicia, a teenager in love with Taylor Lautner’s character Willy, and “Stay Here Forever” by Jewel. The album was released by Big Machine Records.
While the film is light and humorous, it is a great celebration of love. There is something for all ages and even love is explored through the eyes of several students in different age levels.
Then there is also love portrayed by the golden ages that have been through it all. And, of course, the target demography takes up most of the storyline. However, all across the board that common theme still remains.
Although the plot has been around, there is always a new aspect to it. This film draws parallel with Love Actually with a couple of major discrepancies, mainly the time and location. However, there are many ways to tell a love story.
This is a great comedy that will put a smile on your face, a song in your head and love in your heart.
