The Maestro of Horror, Wes Craven, Dies at 76
The film industry has lost an iconic figure especially the horror genre with the death of the maestro of horror, Wes Craven, at the age of 76, after battling brain cancer.
Craven is best known for the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and whose name is synonymous with the horror genre. It would also highlight his talents for discovering talent.
He cast Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street and Sharon Stone in her first starring role in A Deadly Blessing. He would also give Bruce Willis his first featured role in an episode of the 1980s’ The Twilight Zone.
He is credited with reinventing the genre and I believe starting the ‘teen kill’ frenzy that many films like the Final Destination franchise has followed.
Rest in peace, Wes. In your movies, you will live on.
